Rebekah Vardy has spoken out after agreeing to pay £1.2 million in legal costs to Coleen Rooney following her failed Wagatha Christie defamation case.

Rebekah Vardy has finally broken her silence after it was revealed she will pay nearly £1.2 million in legal fees to Coleen Rooney, bringing the infamous Wagatha Christie trial closer to its end.

Vardy, 43, attempted to sue Rooney for defamation following the now-legendary 2019 social media post in which Rooney accused her of leaking private stories to the press: "It was... Rebekah Vardy’s account."

Despite denying the claims and insisting her account had been hacked, Vardy lost the case in 2022. This week, the Royal Courts of Justice confirmed that Vardy must pay £1,190,000 of Rooney’s legal fees, a portion of the original £1.8 million bill.

Shortly after the news broke, Vardy posted a photo on Instagram showing a Ryanair plane on the tarmac with the caption: "Love an early morning flight," accompanied by a disgruntled emoji, hinting at her exit from the UK.

Coleen Rooney also issued a statement: "The ruling yesterday in my favour finally brings this claim to an end. It's a relief and brings closure for my family and I."

She added: "This claim did not need to be made or run for as long as it did. The time and money should have been put to better use."

The case dates back to October 2019, when Rooney planted false stories on her private Instagram account to catch the leaker. The legal fallout lasted years, including appeals, cost disputes, and accusations of “serious misconduct”—which were dismissed by judges.

In April 2024, Mr Justice Cavanagh rejected Vardy’s appeal attempt, declaring: "The appeal must fail... the judge was entitled to reach the conclusion that he came to."

Despite the mounting legal losses, Vardy’s team argued against paying Rooney’s additional “assessment costs” of over £300,000, calling them “grossly disproportionate.” A judge will now decide how much of that she must pay.

For now, Rebekah Vardy appears ready to move on—quietly, and likely from afar.
