Crvena zvezda could complete one of the biggest transfers in club history, with Inter leading the race to sign teenage midfielder Vasilije Kostov for over €20 million.
Crvena zvezda could be on the verge of securing one of the largest transfer fees in club history, with interest in Vasilije Kostov reportedly exceeding €20 million.
The most concrete approach has come from Inter, who, according to Italian and English sources, are actively working to secure the signature of the 2008-born midfielder. The Nerazzurri are said to be ahead of competitors such as Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Talks progressing in Milan
Reports suggest negotiations have reached an advanced stage, with individuals close to the discussions describing a form of “gentleman’s agreement” that would see Kostov continue his career at San Siro.
His agent, Nikola Kolarov, is believed to have given Inter the green light to move forward in their pursuit of the Serbia international.
However, the deal will require a significant financial commitment. Red Star general director Zvezdan Terzić recently confirmed that the club have already received offers exceeding €20 million from European sides, underlining the scale of interest in the teenager.
Backing from within Inter
Additional momentum for the move reportedly comes from Aleksandar Kolarov, currently an assistant coach at Inter, who is said to admire Kostov’s qualities and support the club’s efforts to finalise the transfer.
Kostov made his senior debut for Serbia last November against Albania and is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents in the Balkans. Italian media have drawn stylistic comparisons with Pedri, citing his technical intelligence and composure in midfield.
A product of Red Star’s academy, Kostov debuted for the first team in April 2025. Since then, his profile has risen sharply across the European market.
If the transfer materialises at the reported figure, it would mark a landmark moment for Red Star and confirm Kostov’s status as one of the continent’s most coveted young midfielders.
