Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is currently at the European Championship in Germany, preparing with his national team for matches in Group F against Turkey, Georgia, and the Czech Republic.
Throughout his career, Ronaldo has not only been known for his incredible performance and status as one of the greatest footballers ever but also for his distinctive free kicks.
He has taken free kicks throughout his career, wherever he has played, with varying degrees of success, but always in his unique style. He steps back from the ball, stands with legs wide apart and hands on hips, then takes a run-up and strikes the ball. However, Portuguese media have revealed something else that Ronaldo does before every free kick.
Ronaldo talks to himself. Specifically, he repeats the same phrase to motivate himself. "Score, score, it's normal for you to score," is the phrase Ronaldo was heard saying during the last match before the Euros, in which Portugal beat Ireland 3-0. Portuguese media reviewed his matches with Al Nassr and confirmed that he always repeats the same phrase before taking free kicks.
