Rio Ferdinand delivered one of the funniest television moments of the World Cup after making a cheeky joke during an appearance on After Hours with James Corden.
The former Manchester United and England defender joined the Fox Sports show to discuss the opening matches of the tournament, but it was a photo involving Mauricio Pochettino that stole the spotlight.
An awkward celebration goes viral
The moment came after the United States defeated Paraguay 4-1 in their opening World Cup match.
Pochettino was photographed celebrating with striker Folarin Balogun, who scored twice in the impressive victory.
As the Argentine coach embraced his player, cameras captured a slightly awkward moment that immediately caught the attention of the studio panel.
Introducing the image, Corden joked:
" Nobody is happier about USA Men's incredible victory than coach Mauricio Pochettino. Look at him celebrating with one of his players after the game."
Rio's instant reaction
As the picture appeared on screen, Ferdinand immediately spotted the detail everyone else was noticing.
The former defender quickly fired off a joke that left the studio laughing.
" I swear, if he squeezes any harder, he'd lose two fingers."
Corden burst out laughing before adding:
" If that was my coach, I'd absolutely love it. I'd run through walls for that guy."
Balogun gives USA dream start
Pochettino certainly had reason to celebrate.
Balogun was one of the stars of the match, scoring twice as the United States began its World Cup campaign dominantly.
The result placed the Americans in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages.
