Venezuelan defender Jon Aramburu has seized his chance at Real Sociedad, drawing attention from Bayern Munich after rapid development in La Liga.
Jon Aramburu, a 22-year-old Venezuelan right-back, has gone from obscurity to one of the most promising names in La Liga within just a few months. The Real Sociedad defender, who started the season as a backup, has become a key player in the first team and is now on the radar of Bayern Munich.
Seizing the opportunity
Aramburu was thrust into the spotlight this season due to an injury to Hamari Traoré, and he made the most of it. The young defender has already made 21 appearances and quickly established himself as a reliable option for the Spanish side. His performances have been so impressive that Real Sociedad is now working on a fresh contract to secure his long-term future.
At the start of 2023, Aramburu’s market value was estimated at just €2 million. Today, he is reportedly worth at least €12 million, a reflection of his rapid development and consistent displays. This growth has attracted interest from several top clubs, with Bayern Munich among the most notable suitors.
An unconventional journey
Aramburu’s career path has been anything but conventional. Initially part of Real Sociedad’s youth system, he returned to Venezuela in 2017 before making his way back to Spain in 2022, signing with Real Union, a historic club that participated in the first-ever La Liga season in 1929. Last summer, he rejoined Real Sociedad, starting with their B team before earning his spot in the senior squad.
Real Sociedad’s plans
Currently sitting seventh in La Liga, Real Sociedad is keen to keep hold of their rising star. With other key players like Martin Zubimendi and Brais Méndez already on the radars of European giants, the Basque club is determined to avoid losing another talent prematurely.
For now, Aramburu’s future looks bright, whether it continues at Real Sociedad or takes him to one of Europe’s elite clubs.
