Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season after winning multiple trophies and scoring 119 goals for the club.
Robert Lewandowski has officially confirmed that he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, bringing an end to one of the most successful late-career moves in modern football.
The Polish striker announced his decision through an emotional message on social media ahead of Barcelona’s final home match of the campaign against Real Betis at Spotify Camp Nou.
Earlier this year, reports suggested Barcelona were willing to offer the veteran forward a contract extension on reduced financial terms.
However, Lewandowski has now chosen to close the chapter after four seasons in Catalonia.
“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on,” Lewandowski wrote on Instagram.
“I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships.”
“I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth.”
“Barça is back where it belongs.”
The 37-year-old leaves Barcelona after scoring 119 goals in 191 appearances since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2022 in a transfer worth around €45 million.
During his time in Spain, Lewandowski helped Barcelona win three LaLiga titles, three Spanish Supercopas, and one Copa del Rey.
Even during his final season, the striker remained one of the team’s most effective attacking players.
Although he shared minutes with Ferran Torres throughout the campaign, Lewandowski still scored 18 goals as Barcelona secured another domestic title-winning season.
Sources close to the situation claim the veteran forward already has several options for the next stage of his career.
Clubs from Saudi Arabia, the United States, and across Europe are reportedly interested in signing him.
Chicago Fire has been mentioned among the clubs monitoring his situation.
Lewandowski’s farewell at Camp Nou is expected to be one of the emotional moments of Barcelona’s season, with supporters preparing to say goodbye to one of the club’s most important players of the modern era.
