Patrick Dorgu is set to join Manchester United from Lecce, with the Danish full-back expected to undergo a medical soon ahead of a €30-40M move.
Manchester United appears to have won the race for Patrick Dorgu, with the 20-year-old Danish left-back set to complete his transfer from Lecce imminently. According to Fabrizio Romano, Dorgu could travel to England as soon as tomorrow for a medical and to sign his contract with the Premier League giants.
The deal, which will reportedly cost United between €30 million and €40 million, is a significant coup given that Juventus had also been keen on the player. While primarily a left-back, Dorgu is known for his attacking instincts and has frequently played as a winger on both flanks for Lecce.
United manager Ruben Amorim sees Dorgu as an ideal fit for his tactical vision, with the young Dane's versatility and attacking mindset aligning well with Amorim’s preferred style. However, the Red Devils have been far from convincing on the pitch this season, and it remains to be seen how Dorgu will integrate into a squad that has struggled for consistency.
Dorgu has made 57 senior appearances for Lecce, scoring five goals and providing two assists, while playing for a team battling relegation in Serie A. If the deal is finalized, he will become Amorim’s first official signing, marking the beginning of what could be a major squad overhaul at Old Trafford.
