Brazil legend Ronaldo blamed Carlo Ancelotti for the national team's World Cup exit and also criticised Vinicius Junior and the squad selection.

Brazil's early exit from the 2026 World Cup continues to spark fierce debate, with legendary striker Ronaldo delivering a blunt assessment of the team's performance after the defeat to Norway.
The two-time World Cup winner believes head coach Carlo Ancelotti carries the greatest responsibility for Brazil's elimination in the Round of 16.
"I honestly believe the decisions made from the bench are the main reason for this elimination. Carlo Ancelotti is one of the greatest coaches in football history, but in this match he made far too many mistakes," Ronaldo said.
According to the former Brazil striker, Ancelotti failed to make the most of the talent available throughout the tournament.
Ronaldo singled out teenage forward Endrick, arguing that the Real Madrid striker should have played a much bigger role.
"Brazil lacked energy, aggression and unpredictability. Endrick could have brought all of that."
He also questioned the squad selection, expressing surprise that João Pedro was left out.
"I still don't understand why João Pedro wasn't called up. He had an outstanding season, he was in excellent form, and Brazil needed a striker with different qualities."
Ronaldo also reserved criticism for Vinicius Junior, who was expected to lead Brazil's attack during the tournament.
"He also has to accept part of the responsibility. Everyone knows how talented he is, but his World Cup was far below expectations."
The Brazilian icon believes Vinicius never managed to reproduce the level of performance he consistently delivers at club level.
"He never reached the standard we regularly see from him with his club. When Brazil needed its biggest stars the most, they simply didn't deliver."
Brazil's elimination has intensified criticism of Ancelotti's tactical decisions, player selection and overall management of the national team throughout the tournament.
Despite the disappointment, the Italian coach has not indicated that he intends to resign. Instead, Ancelotti has already spoken about beginning a new cycle with Brazil, one that is expected to culminate at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
