The Portuguese superstar, who lives in Riyadh with Georgina Rodriguez and their five children, has reportedly been receiving alarming threats on social media in recent weeks—prompting a response from local police and a complete overhaul of his personal security setup.
From calm outings to security escalation
Since moving to Al Nassr in 2023, Ronaldo and his family had been enjoying a relatively peaceful life in the Saudi capital. Known for family outings and a low-profile lifestyle, that tranquillity has recently been disrupted by disturbing online messages, leading the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star to take immediate action.
According to Marca, Ronaldo has hired Claudio Miguel Vaz, a Portuguese private security expert, to lead his personal protection team.

Vaz has worked extensively in Portugal’s high-risk areas, particularly providing security for musicians and athletes, including rapper NGA, and footballers Rafael Leão and Gelson Martins. His reputation is built on a firm, no-nonsense approach, which has raised some eyebrows within Ronaldo’s inner circle.
Despite having over 12,000 followers on Instagram, Vaz maintains a low media profile. His presence became more public after an incident during Georgina Rodriguez’s recent trip to Paris, when he used a flashlight to disrupt photographers, sparking a wave of online criticism for his aggressive handling of the press.
Concerns over his intimidating style
Sources close to the Ronaldo family have reportedly expressed concerns over Vaz’s style, which is seen as far more aggressive and confrontational compared to Ronaldo’s previous security personnel.
