Rubin Kazan has decided not to punish Albanian footballer Mirlind Daku for insulting Serbs and Macedonians during EURO, with the player set to apologize and focus on football.

Rubin Kazan has chosen not to penalize Mirlind Daku, an Albanian footballer, for his derogatory remarks about Serbs and Macedonians during the European Championship.

Daku caused a scandal at the EURO when, after scoring a goal in a match against Croatia, he led a chant that insulted Serbs and Macedonians. Given that Rubin Kazan's squad includes two Serbian players, Nikola Čumić and Bogdan Jočić, Daku announced he would apologize for his misconduct at the EURO.

Rubin's coach, Rashid Rakhimov, stated that the incident has already been forgotten within the team.

"Daku is fine. The guys talked to him, and we understand that such situations happen. You've seen similar incidents with Turkey's Demiral. Unfortunately, football today is mixed with politics," said Rakhimov.

He briefly explained what he communicated to the Albanian player.

"The job of a player is to separate football from politics. I told Daku this, and now he needs to focus on football," added the Rubin Kazan coach.
