Yan Diomande has a problem that sounds familiar at Leipzig
Yan Diomande has spent much of the summer near the top of the European transfer market, but the Ivory Coast international now appears likely to remain at RB Leipzig.
The German club are determined to make another major profit from a young player and have valued the 19-year-old winger at €120 million. Diomande has attracted leading European clubs, but Leipzig’s demand has reached a level which interested buyers consider excessive.
Liverpool tested Leipzig’s position with an offer worth €100 million. Reports in Germany described the proposal as €90m in guaranteed payments and another €10m in bonuses, but Leipzig rejected it.
The Reds have therefore failed to convince Leipzig, despite presenting a package which would already have made Diomande one of the most expensive teenage players in football history.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested, and Diomande is reportedly attracted by the possibility of moving to Paris. The French champions have not shown any willingness to meet Leipzig’s full valuation.
German newspaper Bild reports that the transfer is now unlikely to happen. Leipzig have refused to lower their asking price, while Liverpool and PSG have reached their financial limits.
Diomande therefore looks set to remain in Germany and will not overtake Benjamin Šeško through another enormous Leipzig sale this summer. The club’s famous transfer model has finally encountered resistance from the market.
Where will Mohamed Salah play next?
The future of Mohamed Salah remains unclear after he ended his nine-year Liverpool career. The Egyptian is a free agent, but his next destination has not yet been selected.
His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, said an announcement might arrive soon while warning against reports linking Salah with clubs he has no intention of joining.
“We still don’t know where Mohamed will play next season, but it may be known very soon,” Abbas said.
“Our style is not to hold talks with clubs that Mohamed would not want to play for just to raise dust.”
Saudi club Al Hilal has shown interest, while teams from Major League Soccer and Turkey are also monitoring the situation. Salah’s preference and sporting ambitions will decide the next step.
No one activated the clause, and Manchester United have another Rashford problem
Marcus Rashford enjoyed a productive loan season at Barcelona, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists. Those numbers did not persuade the Catalan club to activate its €30m purchase option.
Barcelona instead invested around €80m in Anthony Gordon, closing one route for the England international.
Other clubs were given access to a separate €47m clause, with Manchester City and Liverpool excluded. That deadline has also passed without a buyer, placing control of the negotiations back in Manchester United’s hands.
Fenerbahçe have expressed interest, but Rashford has shown little enthusiasm for a move to Turkey.
A return to Old Trafford now looks increasingly realistic. Rashford has no major personal dispute with Michael Carrick, and the United manager is ready to give him an opportunity to rebuild his career at his boyhood club.

The Turkish businessman has rejected suggestions that the move signals serious financial trouble. He explained that the loan will place Hull in a stronger position as the club prepares its squad for the demands of the Premier League.
The money is expected to support recruitment and other costs linked to promotion, with Hull planning an active summer transfer window.
Garnacho is surplus to requirements again as Chelsea negotiate a sale
Alejandro Garnacho might leave Chelsea only one year after his £40m transfer from Manchester United.
The Argentine winger has been allowed to stay away from pre-season training while Chelsea search for a permanent buyer. New coach Xabi Alonso cannot guarantee him regular playing time.
Chelsea want approximately €50m for Garnacho. Roma have opened negotiations, but the Italian club would prefer a loan with an obligation to buy for a lower total price.
Garnacho scored eight goals and registered four assists in 43 appearances during his first season at Stamford Bridge. His uncertain future represents another unexpected turn in a Premier League career which once appeared destined for Manchester United.
Danylo Malov chooses Poland’s second division over Olimpija
Danylo Malov has left Olimpija Ljubljana before making his senior debut for the Slovenian champions.
The Ukrainian left-back impressed at the European Under-19 Championship, playing every minute during Ukraine’s run to the semi-finals and earning selection in UEFA’s official Team of the Tournament.
His performances did not lead to a senior opportunity in Ljubljana. Malov has instead joined Lechia Gdańsk, where he will play in the Polish second division.
The move represents another disappointing loss of a talented young player for Olimpija. Malov preferred an immediate route towards senior football in Poland rather than waiting for an opportunity in Ljubljana.
