Mohamed Salah says Liverpool’s latest Premier League title feels even more special than their 2020 success, praising Arne Slot’s tough leadership after a season full of challenges.
Mohamed Salah believes Liverpool’s latest Premier League triumph is even sweeter than their 2020 title under Jürgen Klopp, hailing the team’s resilience and the leadership of new boss Arne Slot.
Liverpool clinched their 20th top-flight crown on Sunday with a resounding 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield, putting them out of reach of second-placed Arsenal.
Salah scored Liverpool’s fourth goal with a trademark left-foot finish, taking him six goals clear in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
Unlike their 2020 title, secured behind closed doors during the Covid-19 pandemic, this time Anfield was packed to witness the scenes of pure jubilation at the final whistle.
Salah: "This is way better, 100 per cent," Salah told Sky Sports after the match. "Without Sadio (Mané), without Jurgen, without Bobby (Firmino) – without everybody it feels more special. We have a different group now, a different manager, so to be able to do it again is something special."
Slot's influence:
Salah also credited Arne Slot for bringing a new edge to the team.
"He was very honest. He's quite tough in his personality, but he made our lives easier because you knew immediately what he wanted you to do, which is what we did," Salah said, jokingly adding, "You can see the numbers – it seems so!" in reference to his outstanding form this season.
After a summer of change and uncertainty, Liverpool have emerged stronger than ever — and according to Salah, the journey made this title all the more unforgettable.
