Arsenal defender William Saliba believes the club can win all four major trophies this season as the Gunners lead key competitions at the halfway stage.

Arsenal defender William Saliba has set out bold ambitions for the second half of the season, insisting the Gunners have a genuine chance to complete a historic quadruple.

At the halfway point, Arsenal are perfectly placed on the biggest stages. They lead both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, and after a win over Crystal Palace have reached the EFL Cup semi-finals, where a London derby against Chelsea awaits.

Saliba says Arsenal have been knocking on the door for several seasons and now must take the final step.

“We know we can win every competition we are in. Over the last three seasons we were close to the league title, last year we reached the Champions League and League Cup semi-finals. Now we have to prove it on the pitch and start winning trophies,” said the 23-year-old France international.

He also stressed that no competition should be underestimated.

“At the end of your career, you count trophies. The League Cup is a trophy, and we want to win it — just like every other competition,” Saliba added.

Despite Arsenal’s strong position, the centre-back warned against complacency, especially with a demanding January schedule that includes nine matches.

“The atmosphere is good, but football can change quickly. What matters is what you’re holding at the end of the season, not halfway through,” he said.

A long wait for the biggest prizes

Arsenal last won the league title in 2004, when Arsène Wenger’s legendary ‘Invincibles’ completed an unbeaten Premier League season. Since then, every major domestic rival — Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City — has lifted the trophy.

The Gunners have reached the Champions League final only once, in 2006, and their most recent major silverware came in 2020 with the FA Cup.

Now, with momentum and belief on their side, Arsenal are daring to dream of a season that could finally end a two-decade wait.
