French authorities used Deliveroo data to challenge Samir Nasri’s Dubai residency claim, revealing he spent most of his time in Paris and now faces a €5 million tax demand.
Samir Nasri has found himself at the center of an unusual tax controversy, with French authorities demanding at least €5 million over alleged tax evasion.
The former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder claims he resides in Dubai, where income tax is minimal. However, investigators argue the reality looks very different.
The key evidence came from an unexpected source. Nasri’s food delivery history through Deliveroo. In 2022, he placed 212 orders in Paris, averaging multiple deliveries per week.
This detail raised a simple question. If Nasri lives in Dubai, why was he regularly ordering burgers and sushi in Paris?
Authorities combined this data with housing records and travel patterns. Their findings showed Nasri spent more than 200 days per year in Paris, compared to a maximum of 42 days in Dubai.
The evidence pushed the case forward, with French officials now seeking a significant financial penalty. The situation has drawn attention due to both the scale of the claim and the unusual method of proof.
Nasri, who retired in 2021, enjoyed a long career across Marseille, Arsenal, Manchester City, West Ham, Antalyaspor, and Anderlecht. He also earned 41 caps for France.
The case now moves forward, with the final outcome still pending.
