FK Sarajevo have completed the transfer of captain Giorgi Guliashvili to Racing Santander, with the Georgian international signing a long-term contract in Spain.

FK Sarajevo have confirmed the sale of club captain Giorgi Guliashvili to Racing Santander, marking one of the most significant outgoing transfers in the club’s recent history.

Sarajevo announced that the deal includes a fixed transfer fee, performance-related bonuses and a percentage of any future sale. Racing Santander, currently leading Spain’s second tier, later confirmed the move and revealed that Guliashvili has signed a contract running until the summer of 2029.

Key figure in Sarajevo’s midfield

The Georgian international played 20 matches in all competitions during the first half of the season, contributing two goals and eight assists. Over his entire spell at Koševo, he made 69 appearances in the burgundy shirt, scoring 23 goals and providing 15 assists.

Guliashvili joined Sarajevo at the start of 2023 from Saburtalo Tbilisi, and also spent part of his development on loan at Velež Mostar. His consistent performances quickly established him as a leader within the squad, culminating in him being handed the captain’s armband.

Step forward in Spain

The move to Racing Santander represents a significant step up, with the club currently setting the pace in Segunda División and firmly in the promotion race. Guliashvili also earned regular call-ups to the Georgia national football team, for whom he has made six senior appearances so far.

Emotional farewell

In a farewell message, Guliashvili paid tribute to Sarajevo and its supporters.

“It’s hard to find the right words after everything I experienced in Sarajevo. This club and this city gave me trust, responsibility and the honour of wearing the captain’s armband, which I will remember forever,” he said.
“We went through so much together, and every match at Koševo carried a special emotion. I leave proud of what we achieved and grateful to my teammates, the coaching staff and the fans who were always there for me. FK Sarajevo is not just a stop in my career — it’s a part of me. I carry you with me wherever I go.”

For Sarajevo, the transfer brings both financial return and continuity through a sell-on clause. For Guliashvili, it opens a new chapter in one of Europe’s most competitive football environments.
