The transfer window in Saudi Arabia closes today at midnight, with Al Ittihad leading the charge for a major signing, potentially targeting Arsenal's Leandro Trossard.

The transfer window for new player acquisitions in Saudi Arabia closes tonight at midnight. Alongside clubs from the English Premier League, Saudi clubs are among the few that can afford to sign players worth tens of millions of euros on short notice without extensive long-term planning.

This summer, Saudi clubs have been more restrained compared to last year, but it's hard to say that their ambitions to build one of the world's top leagues have diminished significantly. While fewer big names have joined the Saudi Pro League compared to last summer, this is largely due to many clubs already having filled their foreign player quotas, reducing the need for additional signings.

Nevertheless, there have been some notable transfers. The talented English striker Ivan Toney has joined Al Ahli, Al Hilal signed João Cancelo, and Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr secured the services of the promising Brazilian Wesley and Brazilian goalkeeper Bento. The biggest spender, however, has been Al Ittihad, which has allocated just under €100 million for new signings.

Al Ittihad, the club of Karim Benzema, has already brought in players like Moussa Diaby, Houssem Aouar, and Predrag Rajković. The second-biggest spender has been newly-promoted Al Qadsiah, which invested €80 million to compete with the league's top clubs, bringing in players such as Ezequiel Fernandez, Cameron Puertas, Julian Quinones, Gaston Alvarez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nacho, Nahitan Nandez, and Koen Casteels.

As the transfer window closes tonight, several big transfers are still expected. Al Ittihad is particularly active, reportedly sending offers for Galeno from Porto, Leandro Trossard from Arsenal, and Danilo from Paris Saint-Germain. There is also speculation that legendary Spanish defender Sergio Ramos may move to Saudi Arabia, with an offer from Al Orobah on the table.
