Sporting Cristal face controversy after a viral video showed two young players in compromising situations during a party, sparking anger among supporters.

Sporting Cristal have been drawn into a major controversy after a video circulating on social media appeared to show two first-team players behaving inappropriately at a private party.

The footage allegedly features young prospects Maxloren Castro and Jair Moreti, both products of the club’s academy and players widely considered among the team’s most promising talents.

Video spreads rapidly online

The video, reportedly posted by a social media user under the name “Ena Mdy”, surfaced early in the morning and quickly went viral across Peru. It shows a group of around nine people at a party, with the two footballers allegedly making obscene gestures and behaving in a manner many supporters have described as unprofessional.

The situation escalated because the video spread shortly after Sporting Cristal suffered a defeat to Sport Huancayo in the Apertura 2026 tournament — a result that significantly weakened the club’s title ambitions.

Fans demand answers

Supporters of the Lima-based club reacted angrily on social media, particularly as the team prepares for an important Copa Libertadores trip to Venezuela, where they will face Carabobo in a crucial fixture.

So far, the club have not issued an official statement regarding the incident. The players involved have also remained silent, leaving uncertainty about when the video was recorded or the circumstances surrounding the footage.

Both Castro and Moreti recently made their first-team breakthroughs and are viewed as major prospects for the future. However, the controversy threatens to overshadow their progress and could potentially affect their standing within one of Peru’s most prominent clubs.
