Serbian midfielder Luka Ilić rejoins Red Star from Manchester City

As a free agent, the brilliant midfielder Luka Ilić returns to Marakana after six years, following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City.

The sports sector of Red Star is actively working on bringing in new players. Although the summer transfer window is still some time away, Marakana has decided to start building the team for the next season early, aiming for another qualification into the Champions League group stage.

According to MaxBet Sport, Luka Ilić (24) is the first summer reinforcement for the current champions of Serbia. All details have been finalized, and the signing of the contract, which is expected to last until June 2028, will follow soon. The talented midfielder, along with his younger brother Ivan Ilić, left the club in June 2018. Manchester City paid €5.5 million for the duo from Niš! During his career, Luka Ilić went on loan to NAC Breda and Twente, then to French club Troyes, and from September 2022, he played for TSC.

He shone in Bačka Topola. After his loan expired, he returned to Troyes, where he played 16 matches, scoring six goals and providing three assists. He returns to Red Star. From the player born in 1999, expectations are high for him to demonstrate his potential in the Red Star jersey and once again become a candidate for the Serbian national team, for which he has played one match.
