Footballer Sergio Ramos has been in a strained relationship with his father for several years.
Sergio Ramos often garners media attention not only for his incredible talent but also for his interesting personal life. His life with TV presenter Pilar Rubio is frequently discussed, as is his relationship with his parents. According to some sources, the family idyll was disrupted by his father, who tried to leverage his son's wealth and fame to achieve his own plans and goals.
While Sergio was earning money playing for Real Madrid, his father, Jose Maria Ramos, started a real estate business with his son's money, which unfortunately failed and left the family in debt. Up until a few years ago, Ramos openly showed love for his father and mother, but one business deal changed everything.
Ramos became part of the board of his father's real estate company, which initially saw significant expansion. However, problems soon emerged. El Pais previously reported that Jose Maria Ramos's company, Desarrollos Inmobiliarios Los Berrocales, embarked on an ambitious project to build 22,000 houses in Vallecas.
But the city council scaled down the project, halting the investment and causing issues for the family business. As years passed, the project failed to attract investors. Eventually, Ramos lost nearly two million euros, and the project was stopped in 2019.
These issues with his father reportedly also strained Ramos's marriage with Pilar Rubio last year, even sparking divorce rumors. Since that unfortunate venture, Sergio has not been on good terms with his parents.
To recap, Pilar Rubio and footballer Sergio Ramos met after the 2012 European Championship, and they have four sons together. Their eldest, Sergio, was born in 2014, followed by Marco a year later. The youngest, Alejandro, was born in 2018, and their fourth son, Maximo, arrived in 2020.
