Luca Gotti earned his new contract on the pitch, but also through a heroic act off it.
After securing 14th place in Italy's Serie A, a commendable result for Lecce, the southern Italian club offered coach Luca Gotti a new contract, extending his tenure until 2026.
An important event occurred just before the contract extension! Luca Gotti demonstrated his heroism beyond the football field.
Last weekend, Gotti and the club's director Pantaleo Corvino attended a convention near Venice. During the night, lightning struck the hotel they were staying in, causing a fire. Gotti rushed to the door of Corvino’s room, knocking and banging loudly until he managed to wake the director.
The coach successfully woke the director, and both managed to evacuate the hotel in time.
The day after this near-tragedy, the club finalized all necessary formalities for Gotti to sign his new contract.
