Serie A has rescheduled the final title-deciding matches for Napoli and Inter to Friday at 8:45 p.m., setting up a dramatic Scudetto conclusion with a possible playoff looming.

The Italian Serie A has officially announced a schedule change that brings forward the final matches for title contenders Napoli and Inter to Friday at 8:45 p.m., intensifying what has become Europe’s most dramatic title race this season.

Unlike England, Spain, Germany, and France, where champions have already been crowned, Italy’s Scudetto race will go down to the wire in a nail-biting final round. Napoli will host Cagliari at the Maradona Stadium, while Inter visit Como—both matches will now be played simultaneously on Friday night.

The league made the adjustment for two key reasons:

  • To give Inter additional rest and preparation time ahead of their Champions League final.
  • To allow for a potential Scudetto playoff to be scheduled on May 26, should both teams finish level on points.

That playoff scenario would only occur if Napoli lose to Cagliari and Inter draw with Como, bringing both clubs to identical points in the standings. Under new Serie A regulations, if two teams are tied for first place, a one-off title match is played rather than using head-to-head or goal difference to decide the champion.

This makes Friday night’s fixtures must-watch clashes that could either crown a champion or set up a historic title decider five days before the Champions League final.

All other Serie A matches in the final round will be played on Sunday, after the title fight has been decided—or extended.
