Sevilla have officially signed Swiss international Rubén Vargas from Augsburg to strengthen their team as they battle through a challenging La Liga season.
Rubén Vargas, a versatile forward, has joined Sevilla after a successful stint at German club Augsburg, where he tallied 23 goals in 161 appearances since his arrival in 2019. The 26-year-old Swiss star brings international experience and attacking dynamism to a Sevilla side currently sitting 14th in La Liga.
Born to a Swiss mother and a Dominican father, Vargas has represented Switzerland in 50 international matches. He played a key role for his country at the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 European Championship, where he shone with a man of the match performance in a 2-0 victory over Italy in the round of 16, scoring and assisting in the decisive game.
Sevilla, seeking to turn their season around, have secured Vargas to add creativity and firepower to their struggling attack. The Swiss forward’s versatility, ability to play across the front line, and knack for delivering in crucial moments make him an important signing for the Andalusian club.
