Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri is set to seek one final substantial contract this summer after terminating his contract with the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer.
The 32-year-old made 75 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists. It remains unclear where the popular Shaqiri will continue his career.
Throughout his career, Shaqiri has played for a number of top clubs, including Basel, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Stoke City, Liverpool, Lyon, and most recently, Chicago Fire. He has also been a long-standing member of the Swiss national team.
As a player for Liverpool and Bayern Munich, Shaqiri won the Champions League, three Bundesliga titles, one Premier League title, and three Swiss Super League titles. He also claimed domestic cup honors in Switzerland and Germany and was named Swiss Footballer of the Year twice (in 2011 and 2012).
Shaqiri is renowned for delivering standout performances in major tournaments for his national team, and he continued this tradition at Euro 2024.
