Luka Bobičanec leaves Slovenia for Vietnam, joining Hanoi FC after a successful career with Mura and Celje.
Luka Bobičanec, one of the highest-paid players at NK Celje, has decided to take his career to Asia, signing with Hanoi FC in Vietnam. The 31-year-old Croatian, who spent over seven years in Slovenia, has enjoyed a remarkable journey, becoming a beloved figure in Slovenian football despite his Croatian origins.
Bobičanec first rose to prominence with Mura, helping the club climb from the lower leagues to the Slovenian First League, securing a domestic championship and competing in the Europa Conference League. After reaching his peak in Slovenia, including a high-profile transfer to Celje, he decided it was time to capitalize on his reputation and explore opportunities abroad.
Now a part of Hanoi FC, Bobičanec has already posed in his new club’s colors.
"I’m happy to have been invited to Vietnam. I joined Hanoi after the team won the Southeast Asian Championship, and I’m impressed by the fans. I hope they’ll grow to love me too," Bobičanec said during his introduction.
This move marks a significant milestone for the experienced midfielder, as he steps into a new league and culture while aiming to replicate the success he achieved in Slovenia.
