Adrian Zeljković and Žiga Frelih helped Spartak Trnava eliminate rivals Slovan Bratislava on penalties to reach the Slovak Cup final.
Adrian Zeljković and Žiga Frelih are celebrating a massive triumph after Spartak Trnava edged past fierce rivals Slovan Bratislava in a dramatic Slovak Cup semi-final decided by penalty kicks.
After a tense first half, the match was locked at 1-1, and Slovan were still leading 3-2 on aggregate. But in the dying moments of regular time, Duriš scored to make it 2-1 on the night and 3-3 on aggregate, sending the match into extra time.
The 30 additional minutes failed to produce a winner, forcing a penalty shootout in front of a roaring home crowd. Spartak held their nerve, winning 4-2 on penalties, with Zeljković converting his spot-kick and Frelih contributing in goal.
Slovan’s typically reliable Barseghyan and Mak both failed from the spot, while Spartak only saw Badolo miss. The home side erupted in celebration as they booked their place in the final, keeping alive Zeljković's dream of silverware.
Spartak Trnava will now prepare for the Slovak Cup final, hoping to crown their dramatic run with a trophy.
