Sporting Kansas City have signed Russian winger Shapi Suleymanov from Aris Thessaloniki on a deal through 2026, adding attacking depth ahead of the 2025 season.

Sporting Kansas City have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Shapi Suleymanov from Aris Thessaloniki, the club announced on Monday. The 25-year-old winger has signed a contract through 2026, with options for 2027-28.

Suleymanov brings extensive European experience, having played for FC Krasnodar (Russia), Giresunspor (Turkey), Hapoel Be’er Sheva (Israel), and Aris (Greece). Across 242 first-team appearances, he has recorded 38 goals and 22 assists, featuring in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

At Sporting KC, Suleymanov will join two newly acquired Designated Players—striker Dejan Joveljić (via trade from LA Galaxy) and midfielder Manu García (also from Aris Thessaloniki)—as key additions in the final third. These reinforcements arrive following the departure of DP striker Alan Pulido to Chivas Guadalajara and the expiration of Johnny Russell’s contract. Dániel Sallói, William Agada, and Erik Thommy will remain crucial pieces in Sporting KC’s attack.

The club kicks off its 2025 MLS season on February 22 against Austin FC, while their Concacaf Champions Cup campaign begins on February 18 with a Round One series against Inter Miami CF.
