The Slovenian national football team has maintained an undefeated streak at Stožice stadium for two years, with their last home loss occurring against Sweden in June 2022.
The Slovenian national team left Stožice stadium undefeated for the tenth consecutive time yesterday.
There is no longer any doubt—Stožice has become a fortress for the Slovenian national team, reminiscent of the legendary Ljudski vrt in Maribor or the old stadium in Bežigrad. Yesterday, Slovenia defeated Armenia 2-1 in a friendly match, extending their unbeaten run at Stožice to ten consecutive games. During this period, Slovenia has achieved eight wins and two draws, successfully overcoming stronger teams such as Portugal and Denmark.
Slovenia's last defeat at Stožice was on June 2, 2022, when Sweden won 2-0 at the beginning of the UEFA Nations League group stage.
Almost exactly two years later, Slovenia remains undefeated at Stožice—a streak that began with a victory over Norway (2-1) and a draw against Serbia (2-2) in the same Nations League competition in 2022, followed by a 1-0 win against Montenegro in a friendly match.
In 2023, Slovenia defeated San Marino (2-0), Northern Ireland (4-2), Finland (3-0), and Kazakhstan (2-1) at home, with the only draw recorded against Denmark (1-1).
In 2024, Slovenia has played two matches at Stožice and won both. They first defeated Portugal 2-0, followed by a 2-1 victory against Armenia yesterday. The streak could continue and even extend this Saturday when Bulgaria visits Stožice.
