After benefiting from Deniz Undav’s loan, Stuttgart is now pursuing Bayern Munich’s 19-year-old striker Mathys Tel on a six-month deal to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.

Sebastian Hoeneß and his Stuttgart squad are focused on their Champions League clash against Crvena zvezda, aiming to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stage. Meanwhile, the club’s management is actively working behind the scenes to strengthen the team for the second half of the season, with their sights now set on Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.

Stuttgart’s approach follows a proven strategy that worked with the loan and eventual permanent signing of Deniz Undav from Brighton. The German international’s loan spell was a success, prompting Stuttgart to secure his services for nearly €27 million. Now, they hope to replicate this formula with Tel, who is seen as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers.

The 19-year-old French forward joined Bayern Munich two years ago with high expectations after a €20 million move. However, opportunities have been limited under Vincent Kompany, Bayern’s new coach. This season, Tel has struggled for game time, playing only 112 minutes in the Bundesliga, making a single four-minute appearance in the Champions League, and starting just once in the DFB-Pokal. Without a single goal or assist, Tel’s development appears to have stalled.

Recognizing his frustration, Bayern has proposed a six-month loan deal, which Tel has reportedly accepted. Stuttgart is eager to act quickly, planning to make their move in early December to secure his signature before the January transfer window officially opens. This would also ensure Tel’s eligibility for the Champions League knockout phase, should Stuttgart progress.

However, Stuttgart is not alone in their pursuit. According to German media, Werder Bremen, RB Leipzig, and Villarreal are also interested in signing Tel, making the competition for the French youngster intense.

Should Stuttgart succeed, they will hope that Tel follows the same trajectory as Undav, becoming a key figure in their campaign and helping them compete at the highest levels in both Bundesliga and Europe.
