Sunderland are closing in on Đorđe Petrović, with a €30 million bid to Chelsea that could make him one of the most expensive Serbian players — and Sunderland’s second-costliest signing ever.
Đorđe Petrović is on the verge of making headlines once again — this time as one of the most expensive Serbian players in football history.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper, currently under contract with Chelsea until 2030, spent last season on loan at Strasbourg, where he impressed in Ligue 1. Now, newly promoted Sunderland are ready to make a bold move to secure his services permanently.
According to reports from England, the Premier League newcomers have submitted an offer in the range of €25–30 million — a fee that would make Petrović one of Serbia’s most expensive exports and rank him as Sunderland’s second-highest transfer ever.
With Kepa Arrizabalaga already sold and questions remaining over Robert Sánchez, Chelsea appear ready to part ways with Petrović, especially as he hasn’t cemented himself as first choice at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca.
Petrović joined Chelsea in 2023 and has steadily gained attention through solid performances in both France and during limited chances in England. Sunderland, keen to secure Premier League survival, have made goalkeeper a priority this summer — and Petrović is their top choice.
Having already smashed their own transfer records twice this window, this move would continue Sunderland’s ambitious recruitment drive and bring a proven international into their squad at a crucial time.
