Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso and Trent Alexander-Arnold led a touching tribute at Anfield, honoring late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota four months after his tragic death.

Four months after the tragic death of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, the football world once again came together to pay tribute to the late Liverpool forward.

The Portuguese player and his brother lost their lives in a car accident in Cernadilla, Spain, an event that deeply shook the football community. Since then, fans have continued to light candles and lay flowers outside Anfield in Jota’s memory.

Real Madrid delegation pays tribute

On the eve of their Champions League clash with Liverpool, a Real Madrid delegation visited the Anfield memorial site to honor Jota. The group was led by coach Xabi Alonso, who spent five years at Liverpool during his playing career, and included Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.

Alexander-Arnold, who grew up at Liverpool and moved to Madrid last summer, shared an emotional message on social media dedicated to his former teammate. “Forever in our hearts, brother. You’ll never walk alone,” he wrote, earning thousands of reactions within hours.

A moving gesture before a great match

Former Madrid legend Emilio Butragueño was also present as part of the delegation. The visit was a symbolic moment of unity before tonight’s highly anticipated Champions League encounter at Anfield, which kicks off at 21:00 CET.

Football fans from both clubs continue to remember Jota with deep affection, as tributes pour in from across Europe on this somber anniversary.
