Raphael Veiga has praised Club América as “the best in Mexico” after completing his move from Palmeiras and is set to make his Liga MX debut once his work visa is approved.

Brazilian midfielder Raphael Veiga has officially been unveiled as a new player of Club América, and the former Palmeiras star wasted no time in praising his new surroundings.

During his presentation with Las Águilas, the 30-year-old described América as the benchmark of Mexican football.

“América is the best in Mexico. It has passionate fans, it is a club with a beautiful history and it has a wonderful, historic stadium,” Veiga said.

Training already underway

Veiga has already joined full training with his new teammates as he adapts to life in Liga MX. However, he was unavailable for América’s recent Concacaf Champions Cup match due to a regulatory issue, according to reports from Récord.

That situation is expected to be resolved shortly, with the Brazilian awaiting final approval of his work visa.

League debut in sight

Once the paperwork is completed, Veiga is expected to be available for América’s league fixture against Monterrey. The match is scheduled for Saturday, 7 February, at the Estadio Banorte.

Veiga arrives in Mexico with a strong reputation after several successful seasons at Palmeiras, where he established himself as one of the most influential midfielders in Brazilian football. América will now hope his creativity and goal threat can translate quickly to Liga MX as they push for domestic and continental success.
