Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Julian Alvarez is the perfect fit for the Gunners, despite the club’s focus on Šeško and Gyökeres.
Arsenal have been linked with strikers Benjamin Šeško and Viktor Gyökeres this summer, but club legend Thierry Henry has pointed the spotlight elsewhere.
The French icon has named Julian Alvarez, currently at Atletico Madrid, as his personal favourite to lead the Arsenal attack.
“One of my favorite strikers at the moment is Julian Alvarez,” said Henry. “He can do whatever the coach needs. He presses well, contributes deeper, scored from a free kick last time. He knows how to hold the ball. He played in the Olympics and Copa America – and he never gets tired. I really like him.”
Alvarez moved to Atletico Madrid from Manchester City and enjoyed a strong debut season in La Liga, quickly establishing himself as one of the most versatile attackers in Spain.
Henry also believes Mikel Arteta has taken too long to prioritize the striker position at Arsenal. He referenced past signings like Raheem Sterling – a winger – as evidence of a misaligned recruitment strategy when a proper forward was already needed.
“Let’s not forget that we only ask for a striker when Arsenal are not winning. When we beat Real Madrid, it was not a problem,” Henry added, highlighting how quickly opinions shift based on results.
