Tottenham have confirmed that Destiny Udogie was the player threatened with a gun by his former agent, with the club now offering support while legal proceedings continue.
The Premier League player who was reportedly threatened with a gun has now been identified as Destiny Udogie. Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the incident and are providing support to the defender and his family.
The shocking situation took place in London, where Udogie, 22, was confronted and threatened while walking with a friend. Initial reports only described the victim as a player valued at around €70 million, but the identity has now been officially acknowledged.
Even more disturbing is the fact that the alleged attacker was Udogie’s own agent.
Tottenham released a brief statement:
“We have been providing support to Destiny and his family since the incident. Due to ongoing legal matters, he cannot comment.”
The police arrested the agent in September. According to reports, the confrontation stemmed from Udogie’s decision to end his representation agreement. The agent is said to have reacted aggressively to the split.
He now faces charges of:
- Extortion
- Possession of a firearm
- Driving without a licence
Udogie has become one of the most highly regarded young full-backs in the Premier League since joining Spurs. His performances have also earned him call-ups to the Italian national team.
Tottenham remain focused on ensuring the player’s safety and mental well-being as the legal case continues.
