Heung-min Son returns to Tottenham next week as a Champions League guest, with the club preparing a special mural to honour their former star.
Heung-min Son is on his way back to north London. After completing a spectacular first season in the United States, the South Korean superstar will return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Tuesday as a special guest for the Champions League match against Slavia Prague.
Son, who spent 10 unforgettable years at Tottenham and became one of the club’s most beloved figures, left for MLS side LAFC last summer. His impact in the United States has been immediate – in just 13 matches, he has produced 12 goals and four assists, quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s standout performers.
Tottenham surprised supporters today by announcing that “Sonny” will be welcomed back in person during the upcoming European fixture. It will be his first appearance at his old home since his emotional summer departure, and the club expects a highly charged atmosphere as fans greet their former icon.
The reunion will be even more symbolic thanks to a special project Tottenham have been working on: the club is preparing a large mural in his honour somewhere in the city. According to Spurs, the artwork should be completed before the Champions League match, making Son’s return even more meaningful.
Before the European fixture, Tottenham face Brentford, with Thomas Frank under increasing pressure. His side have failed to win any of their last five league games, losing three, and sit only 11th in the Premier League — well below expectations.
Performances at home have been a particular concern, and Spurs hope that a stronger run at their own stadium can bring much-needed momentum. Son’s presence next week may well provide an emotional lift for both the club and its supporters.
