Veljko Birmančević is in strong form at Sparta Prague, and Turkish clubs—this time Trabzonspor—are once again showing interest in the Serbian winger.
Veljko Birmančević is once again delivering strong performances for Sparta Prague, bouncing back after a difficult previous season marked by inconsistency. His resurgence began after Brian Priske returned to lead the Czech champions — the same coach under whom Birmančević helped Sparta win the title two years ago.
This season, the Serbian winger has scored eight goals and added two assists across all competitions, form that has revived interest from Turkey.
According to Takvim Gazete, Trabzonspor have placed the former Čukarički winger on their shortlist. Their summer signing Kazim Olajgbe, who cost €5 million, has not met expectations, prompting the club to look for a new option on the left flank. Birmančević is viewed as an ideal fit for the system preferred by coach Fatih Tekke.
It is worth noting that just over a year ago, Sparta rejected a €10 million offer from Galatasaray, and last winter Beşiktaş reportedly came forward with a €6 million bid — also turned down.
Although his market value dipped slightly following a weaker season, Birmančević’s current form has pushed his stock back up, and Sparta can once again hope for a substantial transfer fee — provided they decide to sell the Serbian international.
