Atlético Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano will host the 2027 Champions League final, marking its second final in just ten years, following the 2019 showdown between Liverpool and Tottenham.

The president of the Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzan, has revealed that the 2027 UEFA Champions League final will take place at Atlético Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano.

This season’s final is set to be played at Allianz Arena in Munich, while Puskás Aréna in Budapest will host the 2026 edition. Although UEFA has yet to officially confirm Metropolitano as the 2027 venue, Louzan was quick to announce the decision, expressing hope that Spain could also secure another major European final at La Cartuja in Seville, which is set to be transformed into a football-specific stadium.

Metropolitano’s rapid rise to prominence

Built in 2017, the Metropolitano has quickly become one of Europe’s premier football venues. By 2027, it will have hosted two Champions League finals within its first decade—a remarkable achievement.

Its first major European final came in 2019, when Liverpool defeated Tottenham in an all-English clash. The match was officiated by Slovenian referee Damir Skomina.
