Uli Hoeness praises Vincent Kompany’s impact at Bayern Munich, calling him the perfect choice to lead the club after Thomas Tuchel’s stint. "The difference is night and day," he says.
This season, Bayern Munich is once again looking like the dominant force that has ruled German football for decades. The Bavarians currently sit comfortably atop the Bundesliga table, with a five-point lead over Leipzig and a commanding nine-point advantage over defending champions Bayer Leverkusen. Many already see this as the beginning of Bayern’s swift return to total dominance in German football.
Former club president Uli Hoeness, who remains highly influential in the club's strategic decisions, believes hiring Vincent Kompany as head coach was the key to revitalizing the team—especially after a rocky period under Thomas Tuchel.
"The difference is like night and day. Kompany is communicative and genuinely cares about the players, something we were missing before," Hoeness said in an interview with Bild.
He also revealed that Pep Guardiola, a former Bayern coach and Kompany’s mentor at Manchester City, played a crucial role in the decision to bring Kompany to Munich. "That’s why we called Pep for advice. He told us to hire Kompany with our eyes closed, saying he would be up to the task. I think Bayern is set for great success again," Hoeness added.
With Kompany at the helm, Bayern looks poised to reclaim its dominance, and Hoeness's faith in the young Belgian coach signals a bright future for the club.
