Franjo Ivanović, Union SG’s striker, wins Player of the Month in Belgium after a brilliant December, scoring four league goals and attracting interest from English clubs.
Franjo Ivanović, forward for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, has been named Player of the Month for December in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. The former Rijeka and Croatian U21 striker dazzled fans and pundits alike with his performances, scoring four league goals in December alone.
Ivanović’s highlights included a hat-trick against Westerlo and a spectacular goal in the derby against Club Brugge. He also added two goals against Nice in the Europa League, rounding off a fantastic month. With six league goals and eight goals in all competitions for Union this season, Ivanović has also contributed three assists. Factoring in his time with Rijeka earlier this season, the Croatian has tallied 12 goals and five assists in 32 appearances.
Statistics aside, Ivanović impressed with his all-around play. Even in matches where he didn’t score, he stood out as one of Union’s top performers. His versatility allowed him to adapt to various roles—leading the attack, playing as a second striker or winger, and even dropping into midfield.
Ivanović’s relentless pressing, ability to link up with teammates, and technical skills, particularly his two-footedness, earned widespread praise from Belgian football fans and analysts. His performances have made him a standout in Union’s squad and caught the attention of bigger clubs.
Given his impressive form, English clubs are reportedly monitoring Ivanović. His market value has skyrocketed, with estimates in Belgium placing him in the €10–12 million range.
The 25-year-old’s remarkable performances have also strengthened his case for a call-up to the Croatian national team, as he continues to make waves in Belgian football.
