Benjamin Šeško played his role in a rare Manchester United achievement, while Chelsea’s struggles reached a historic low at Stamford Bridge.
Benjamin Šeško was part of a night that entered Manchester United history, even if the full weight of it may only be clear now.
United secured a 1-0 win at Chelsea, ending a six-year wait for victory at Stamford Bridge. The result also confirmed a rare achievement.
This season, United have beaten Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool away from home, something the club had not done since 1985. Not even during the era of Alex Ferguson did they manage this.
The decisive goal came from Matheus Cunha, with Šeško involved in the move that led to the finish. It marked his tenth goal contribution of the league campaign.
United’s performance carried extra weight given the defensive issues. Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro were all unavailable, forcing Noussair Mazraoui and young Ayden Heaven into central roles.
Despite those absences, United held firm and moved closer to securing a place in the Champions League.
For Chelsea, the picture looks very different. The defeat marked their fourth consecutive Premier League loss, the first time this has happened in 28 years.
Even more concerning, Liam Rosenior’s side failed to score in any of those four matches, deepening the pressure as the season nears its end.
Manchester United will next face Brentford at Old Trafford, while Chelsea travel to Brighton needing a response to keep their European hopes alive.
