Emiliano Martinez clashed with Raphinha after Argentina’s 4–1 win over Brazil, mocking the Brazilian for his pre-match trash talk and provoking him during and after the match.
Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martinez was once again at the centre of controversy, as the Argentina goalkeeper taunted Brazil’s Raphinha following their dominant 4–1 win in Buenos Aires.
Raphinha had made headlines before the match after confidently declaring in an interview with Romario TV that Brazil would "destroy Argentina on and off the pitch." His bold statement backfired spectacularly, as Argentina comfortably won the South American clash at El Monumental.
After the final whistle, Martinez deliberately bumped into Raphinha, reigniting tensions. During the match, the Aston Villa shot-stopper had already been mocking the Brazilian players by juggling the ball, drawing the ire of his own coach, Lionel Scaloni, who warned him about his behaviour on the sidelines.
But Dibu wasn’t done. After the match, he took another dig at Raphinha, saying: "That guy needs better manners."
The incident has gone viral, especially after Raphinha’s trash talk failed to translate into a strong performance, while Argentina turned the heat up on the pitch and off it — with Martinez leading the provocations in typical style.
