Romeo Vermant scored for Club Brugge in a 3–1 win over Anderlecht, but also suffered a brutal moment as he was struck in the groin by a ball travelling at 89 km/h.

A painful moment from the Belgian league derby between Club Brugge and Anderlecht has gone viral—particularly among male viewers who winced just watching it.

In the middle of the action, 21-year-old Romeo Vermant, one of Club Brugge’s rising stars, was unintentionally struck in the groin by a thunderous clearance from an Anderlecht player. The ball hit him directly at 89 km/h, leaving the young forward in visible pain and requiring several moments to recover on the pitch.

Despite the unfortunate incident, Vermant had a night to remember. He opened the scoring in Club Brugge’s impressive 3–1 win, helping his team maintain momentum in the championship playoff round of the Belgian league.

Vermant is regarded as one of Belgium’s brightest young talents. He now has six goals in nine appearances during the second phase of the season, where clubs are divided into title and relegation groups.

It was a match filled with highlights—but for Vermant, there’s no doubt which moment will be the most unforgettable... for better or worse.
