Raheem Sterling was arrested after crashing his Lamborghini in Hampshire as police investigate allegations of driving under the influence.
Raheem Sterling has become the centre of major controversy in England after police arrested him following a motorway crash involving his luxury Lamborghini.
The former Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal winger, who currently plays for Feyenoord, is being investigated on suspicion of driving under the influence of illegal substances after crashing into a guardrail on the M3 motorway in Hampshire.
The situation escalated further after videos recorded shortly before the accident started circulating online. According to British media reports, the footage allegedly shows Sterling driving erratically, changing lanes repeatedly and moving unpredictably through traffic moments before the collision.
One eyewitness described the incident to local media and claimed the driver had already looked dangerous before the crash happened.
"I was driving in the middle lane when a black Lamborghini suddenly pulled in front of me and forced me to slow down. It then returned to the inside lane, but shortly afterwards accelerated sharply and crossed all three lanes. It appeared to have just missed the guardrail," the witness said.
Reports suggest Sterling was driving a vehicle worth more than €312,000 when the accident occurred. Police reportedly detained the footballer at the scene and later launched an investigation connected to suspected drug use while driving.
Authorities have so far not released official test results, and no charges have been confirmed at this stage.
Police have only stated that investigations remain ongoing.
For now, the videos continue spreading quickly online while questions surrounding the incident remain unanswered.
