Virgil van Dijk’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain as his contract expires this summer, fueling speculation about a potential PSG move.
After Liverpool’s Champions League exit at the hands of PSG, Virgil van Dijk admitted that his future at Anfield remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire on June 30.
Speaking to the media after the defeat, the Liverpool captain praised the opposition while addressing speculation about his next move.
"Congratulations to PSG, they are the best team we've played against this season. Credit goes to their coach, Luis Enrique—he has built a very strong team," Van Dijk stated before being asked about his future.
"I don’t know what will happen next season. If someone tells you they do, they’re lying. Is my contract on hold? No, nothing is on hold. I always say the same thing—if there’s news, I’ll let you know. Right now, even I don’t know what will happen."
PSG transfer rumors intensify
Van Dijk’s post-match conversation with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luis Campos has further fueled speculation. Some Liverpool fans believe the Dutch defender could be negotiating a move to the Parisian club, especially with PSG in search of defensive reinforcements.
Since joining Liverpool in 2018, Van Dijk has made 310 appearances, scoring 26 goals, and has won the Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.
Despite his crucial role in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, his contract situation remains unresolved, leaving the door open for potential suitors this summer.
