Slovenian international Vanja Drkušić has officially become a new member of Russia's biggest club, Zenit St. Petersburg.
Following in the footsteps of fellow Slovenian internationals Žan Celar, Žan Vipotnik, and Timi Max Elšnik, another prominent member of Slovenia's national team, which made history at the European Championship in Germany, has made a high-profile move.
Vanja Drkušić, one of Slovenia's standout players at the Euros, has officially joined Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg, with the club paying a transfer fee of €4 million. This move makes Drkušić the most expensive Slovenian international in this transfer window. He has signed a five-year contract with his new club.
Drkušić had offers from clubs such as Crvena Zvezda, Osasuna, and Sevilla, as well as several other European teams, but ultimately chose to join Zenit, the dominant force in Russian football over the past decade.
It's important to note that Russian clubs, including Zenit, remain suspended from participating in European club competitions due to ongoing UEFA sanctions.
