Rebekah Vardy could be heading to the United States with husband Jamie Vardy amid reports of a Netflix opportunity, following her costly legal defeat to Coleen Rooney.
Rebekah Vardy is reportedly planning a fresh start in the United States after being ordered to pay nearly £1.2 million to Coleen Rooney in the aftermath of the high-profile 'Wagatha Christie' trial.
The WAG, who lost her defamation case against Rooney, is now facing a legal bill that has ballooned to at least £1.4 million. The Royal Courts of Justice confirmed this week that Vardy must pay £1.19 million of Rooney’s legal costs, with an additional £212,266.20 approved in assessment costs.
As the dust settles, reports suggest that Rebekah and her husband, footballer Jamie Vardy, are eyeing a move across the Atlantic—potentially tying in with Jamie’s departure from Leicester City after 13 years. U.S. clubs, including D.C. United, are said to be interested in the 38-year-old striker.
Sources told The Sun that Rebekah is also exploring a move into American reality TV, having held discussions about appearing on Netflix’s hit series Selling Sunset as a high-end homebuyer. Although plans were reportedly paused due to wildfires in Los Angeles, the project could still go ahead.
“The US is the most likely next move for the Vardys, partly because Becky has had interest in TV work there,” a source claimed. “She was in talks with the makers of Selling Sunset earlier this year.”
The source added: “The show is a great ‘shop window’ for stars in the US to go on to other things.” Any decision, however, may depend on Jamie’s football future and the family’s financial priorities after the court ruling.
Neither Rebekah nor Coleen attended this week’s hearing, but Costs Judge Mark Whalan expressed hope that this marks the end of a prolonged legal saga. “I hope that this is the end of a long and unhappy road,” he said. “They can both part to put this matter behind them.”
