Olimpija coach Victor Sanchez shares his pride in the team's 2-0 victory over LASK, emphasizing their tactical strength and determination on the field.
Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a strong 2-0 win over LASK in the European competition, showcasing a commanding performance that could have easily led to a bigger margin. Coach Victor Sanchez was pleased with his side’s display and tactical adjustments.
With this latest victory, Sanchez has recorded his sixth European win as Olimpija's manager. Using a three-man defensive line, a strategy trialed against Heidenheim in their last European outing, Sanchez sought and achieved a more compact structure, which worked beautifully.
“I’m very happy with the result and our performance. I’m also thrilled for our fans, who created a fantastic atmosphere. I hope we continue in this rhythm at home games,” Sanchez said. Commenting on the three-at-the-back formation, he added, “We wanted to be compact and aggressive in winning the ball back in their half. We enjoy playing a beautiful game, but on this pitch, we had to adapt. We played smart, efficiently, and deserved to win. The score could have been even higher.”
When asked how Olimpija manages to compete so effectively against teams with much larger budgets, Sanchez explained: “We’ll strive to keep up this pace. How do we beat wealthier teams? We don’t compete in finances, only in the game on the pitch.”
