Bosnia secures significant reinforcement as Brentford’s €22-million midfielder Vitaly Janelt acquires citizenship ahead of his expected debut in June’s international friendly match.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina national team achieved a significant breakthrough as Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt officially obtained Bosnian citizenship, clearing the final obstacle to his national team debut.

The Bosnian Football Federation (NFSBiH) announced that Janelt has been granted a passport from Bosnia and Herzegovina, making him immediately eligible for selection. The 26-year-old midfielder, currently valued at €22 million, is now expected to debut in June during Bosnia’s scheduled friendly international match.

The friendly match in June will mark a critical test for the newly strengthened Bosnian squad, which is eager to capitalize on the talent of Janelt. Born in Hamburg, Germany, Janelt acquired Bosnian citizenship through his spouse, who has roots in the country.

With this important milestone, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national team adds a player who has become a mainstay at Premier League side Brentford. Janelt, currently valued at approximately €22 million, represents a high-profile reinforcement capable of significantly enhancing Bosnia’s midfield.
