Olimpija's top scorer Rui Pedro is reevaluating his decision to leave the club, considering a contract extension after the firm stance taken by the club's management.
Rui Pedro, the leading scorer of the Slovenian league with 10 goals this season, is having second thoughts about his future with Olimpija. Initially determined not to renew his contract, the situation seems to be changing for the Portuguese striker.
Entering the last six months of his contract with the Ljubljana-based club, Rui Pedro had been exploring options for a summer transfer without a fee, engaging in talks with other clubs.
However, he has not found a club willing to pay a significant transfer fee to Olimpija for a January move.
At a recent press conference, Olimpija's directors, Igor Barišić and Goran Boromisa, mentioned that coach Zoran Zeljković does not count on some players due to contract issues, including Rui Pedro. Boromisa stated that Olimpija would not let the player go for a trivial amount, such as "a hundred or two hundred thousand euros."
Confronted with Olimpija's firm position, Rui Pedro is weighing his options, including the possibility of extending his contract with the club. This option has reportedly become viable again.
Time is of the essence as Olimpija's preparations for the season are underway, and Pedro must provide a prompt response. If he does not extend his contract, he might have already played his last game for Olimpija, and the club will look for a replacement.
