Luka Vušković, the 17-year-old Croatian defender, explains his decision to join Tottenham this summer over Manchester City, citing the club’s detailed development plan.

Luka Vušković, the 17-year-old defensive sensation, continues to dazzle the football world. The young Croatian has already scored six goals this season for Westerlo, including a spectacular bicycle kick that caught the attention of fans across Europe. The impressive performances have set the stage for his move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

In a conversation with Nieuwsblad, Vušković revealed that Manchester City was the first club to reach out, but it was Tottenham's approach that won him over.

"City was the first club to show interest, and my father immediately told me Tottenham also wanted me," Vušković said.
"Spurs presented a very good plan for my development. When I heard all the details, it convinced me to choose them. I’ll follow the club’s guidance completely. It’s my dream to play alongside players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven."

Vušković, who turns 18 this summer, will officially join the London club in July after transferring from Hajduk Split for a record-breaking €11 million at just 16 years old. Until then, he remains focused on improving his game.

"Speed is crucial for my position, and I work on it every day," he added.

The defender’s move to Tottenham comes at a time when the club has faced several injuries in their defensive line, potentially opening the door for Vušković to make an early impact.
