Manchester City honored Ballon d’Or winner Rodri with a spectacular pre-match celebration at the Etihad Stadium, marking a historic moment for the club.
Manchester City made history this year as Rodri became the first player in the club’s history to win the Ballon d’Or, one of the most prestigious individual awards in football. Ahead of their match against Tottenham, City organized a spectacular ceremony to honor their star midfielder, celebrating his achievement in front of a packed Etihad Stadium.
Despite currently being sidelined by injury and unlikely to return this season, Rodri was welcomed with thunderous applause and a dazzling display as he took to the pitch to pose with the trophy. The crowd erupted in cheers for the Spanish international, who played a pivotal role in City’s treble-winning campaign, cementing his status as the world’s best footballer.
The atmosphere at the Etihad was electric, but the celebration didn’t seem to inspire Pep Guardiola’s men on the field. Just 20 minutes into the game, Tottenham stunned the home crowd by racing to a 2-0 lead, with James Maddison scoring twice.
Rodri’s Ballon d’Or victory marks a historic moment for Manchester City, a club that continues to establish itself as a dominant force in world football.
